Re: Confused: Why input video into AVR?

I'm thinking it would be better to push the video directly from the BluRay to the monitor via HDMI-DVI cable and input only the audio into the AVR via fiber optic (or might there be audio sync problems?).
You have the right idea. A lot of us are doing much the same thing until such time as we upgrade our receivers or pre/pros to new ones with HDMI switching.

The main reason for routing everything through one place is ease of switching. But that should give way before finding the best available video connection, IMO.

Lastly, the max resolution on the Tau is 1080i so do any of my concerns about video quality really matter anyway?!?
Others may disagree, but I think the difference between 1080i and 1080p has been overstated. But you can always try it both ways and see whether your eye can tell the difference between the component and the HDMI/DVI routes.
