So it would have been necessary for James (who isn't a social/strategic player) or Eric (ditto) to come with a plan and convince Amanda to go with them. Plus, Natalie's spell over Jason would have been difficult to break. He would have gone back to her and then they would have just voted off James to be safe.
How funny is it that Jason compared himself to and emulated Ozzy the whole time and ended up with exactly the same fate?

That's exactly right. Amanda sold out James to take her place with the ladies, which she thinks is ahead of the Fans' ladies. She'd rather take her chances in a vote against Cirie and Parv, rather than a final 4 of James, Erik, Jason and herself, where she'd likely have to win a tie breaker challenge against Erik or Jason to make it to the vote.
I still think James should have clued in Jason and Erik even without Amanda. Get them to vote for Parv, and then have Jason play the idol. His votes don't count and Parvati goes home (Jason's and Erik's votes for James switches to Parv, so she has 3 votes and James has 1). They then are outnumbered 4 to 3 for the remainder, but they have a good shot of convincing someone to flip with Parvati out of there as she is the link between the fans and faves ladies.
