A Y-cable or splitter will send the full-range signal to each channel, just at half power. That's not bi-amping, it's more like using the B speaker outputs on an older receiver.

The whole point of bi-amping is to separate the frequencies, so that the amp driving the woofer only has to amplify the bass frequencies and the amp driving the mid-range & tweeter in only driving the mids and highs. If you really want to bi-amp, then you need to install an external crossover for each channel between the preamp and power amp.
