I too used to think that, Lew. Then a lightning strike took out my first TiVo unit, because I had forgotten to run its phone line connection through a surge protector, even though the power connection was well protected. That taught me a lesson: You're fine -- until you're not.

Matthew, that particular Tripp Lite model looks like more than you'll need if your area has stable power, but in general Tripp Lite makes solid gear, and I've been very happy with their products for both PCs and HT equipment.
