Re: Doctor Who Season 4: April 5th!
The historical accuracy nitpicker in me started bleating about the plot details (e.g. the impossibility of even a prosperous merchant's daughter having a dress dyed in purple, the inaccuracy of the sequencing of the volcanic eruption, etc). But once I shut up the nitpicker, I greatly enjoyed the episode. That's two good ones on the trot. And I loved the jokes about the translation device. The mistaking them for Welsh is of course an in-joke because the series is made in Wales.
Incidentally, if anyone wants a good historical novel that accurately goes through what actually happened at Pompeii, there's a marvellous book by Robert Harris called (imaginatively enough) Pompeii. Strongly recommended.
