While this list is not definitive, it represents the kinds of movies I'd select if I had a whole weekend of uninterrupted viewing available:

Gladiator (or some other sword and sandals epic)
at least one Star Trek movie (doesn't really matter which one)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (or any Connery Bond--OHMSS is my favourite Bond movie, but Connery is my favourite Bond)
LOTR: Fellowship EE(If I'm not doing an LOTR marathon, then I would pick the first one and watch the other two within a few weeks)
2001: A Space Odyssey (gotta have at least one Kubrick)
Unforgiven (same for Clint and I need at least one Western--this covers both)
Patton (need at least one WWII flick)
Slap Shot (or some other comedy)

It wastes time, and it annoys the pig.
