only trouble is what aout the 33 or so hd dvds i have.

well it lasted almost 2 years.
good thing i paid $40 for a service plan i guess.

As stated by Cees, use it wisely, go Blu Ray with it. 800.00 is more than enough to get a really good BD player with some movies. As to the 33 HD-DVD movies you have, If you can find a Walmart that still have the A3 or a Circuit City that has the A35, pick it up for the discounted price and keep your movies. As far as I'm concern high def is high def. Enjoy it. If you do decide to sell you HD-DVDs, you won't have too much of a problem selling them. Of course not what you paid for it but that's the other factor to take into consideration in regards to keeping or selling your movies.

I don't know how well BD does the upscaling thing with standard DVDs but I have to give Toshiba serious props in reference to how they upconvert standard DVD's as you know. This whole thing just might be a blessing in disguise, you paid a pretty penny to jump in to the format, it breaks, can't be fixed, a possible buy out option all because you paid the extra 40.00, finally you can pick up a HD-DVD player for less than 80.00 bucks. Sounds like a blessing too me.
