Both of the longer films made quite an impression on me when I first saw them. This edition of Helter Skelter has approximately 184 min. (a version I've never seen) as opposed to the 119 min. version that I have seen previously, so that will be a real treat. And from what I have read regarding this collection of The Three Stooges, it is pretty much unparalleled.
Both those films did the same for me.

I'd never seen anything like Helter Skelter and it scared me to death. When I watch something over the top, like the original TCM or Last House on the Left, I'm reminded about how I felt. Kind of like, "people actually did this to other people?" Also, it takes advantage of the old "boogyman is real" fear we have as children.

Jim Jones was actually enlightening. Some of our friends attended his sermons when he'd come to town in the 70s where I used to live near Atlanta GA. (very very strange friends, no kidding, they had one of their kids go bad and he strangled a female hitchhiker) Also, (and this is weird) a TV cameraman who accompanied that senator to Guyana, and was killed along with him, used to work at the very radio station I work at now. The cameraman's brother was manager here in the early 90s, and laid me off. That film involves one of my worst fears, being forced to do something I don't want, including being held captive. I couldn't imagine being made to drink that stuff at gunpoint. I'd definitely do what I had to to get out even if I got shot.

The Stooges definitely balance well with these creepy films.
