I have enormous respect for both of these actors, and Kenneth Branagh is a superb film director. But from the moment I read the announcement about this film's production, I have done nothing but ask myself, "Why?"

The 1972 movie is a masterpiece, as canny a movie adaptation of a stage mystery thriller as I've ever seen. Why the need to remake something already perfect when there are scores of worthy stage thrillers that haven't been filmed at all?

Still, I'm sure I'll eventually see what this excellent team as done with the property. Sony certainly didn't seem to have much faith in it, however. I'm not sure it even got a full national release.
