Re: HTF DVD REVIEW: Jimmy Carter Man From Plains

Nice job, Richard! I had been wondering about this title since I had seen it pop up in the "new release" listings.

I had mistakenly thought it was an overall biography on the man's life...rather than a Demme-driven piece on the particular book/tour.

I suppose it would be expected that Demme would cast Carter in a positive light in the piece since it is easy to "get cozy" with your subject. They are, after all, allowing you "in" to their life and experience for a time.

You did a nice job of staying out of the politics of the topic. People can say what they will about the Carter presidency, but you do have to admire a man who has devoted so much of his life to public service (especially the post-presidency years).

Sounds like an interesting piece. I look forward to checking it out sometime.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!
