What Chuck said - it was well publicized that Bale signed a three film deal when he agreed to the part. From what I understand, Nolan didn't - but if Dark Knight does as well or nearly as well as expected theatrically and on video, it's hard to imagine WB not bringing him back for a third film.

Additionally, everything I've read indicates that Goyer and Nolan always envisioned it as a trio of films to tell the story.

Four months to go. Aaaahhh!!!
