I'd certainly love to have a 35mm-sourced DVD of this stunningly photographed (John Alton) film. It used to be shown regularly on British TV but alas not in recent years (the BBC lost a lot of their films in a library flood in the 1990s and I fear this may have been one of them).

If a "Historical Thrillers" set wouldn't sell, then Sony could just include it with some of the many other noirs they own (some of these like THE SNIPER seem to have been restored recently as they pop up on the UK's Film Four channel with Sony logos at the end).

It may be a period film but it's certainly more noir in my book than some of the titles Fox and other companies have labelled "noir" recently!
