Not all HD channels are as good as others. Sounds like Spike is in the same class as TNT. I don't have SpikeHD, but in TNT's case, they basically run the same thing on their HD channel as they are running at the same time on their SD channel. So, if it's a P&S movie, it'll be a stretched P&S on the HD feed. If it's a 4x3 tv show, it'll be a 4x3 show stretched on the HD feed. There are rare exceptions to this, such as when they showed a Stephen King miniseries in true HD a little while back.
