Re: American Idol - Season 7
Carly Smithson – Takes on Heart and gives it a nice go. She tries way too hard, though. She had it technically but there was no emotion. I hope she grows from here. She could have the goods but right now -- no X factor.
Syesha Mercado – I liked her subdued, breathy performance. She has a nice velvetly tone. She'll stick around.
Brooke White – Perfect song choice. I like Brook. She's natural.
Ramiele Malubay – She has a big voice but not the technical skill to control it and put together a real performance. Talented but too young.
Kristy Lee Cook – She's an okay singer and an uncomfortable performer. The only thing she has going for her are her looks. She has room to grow and I think she'll be around a couple more weeks. Her best bet: pick the right song, the right dress, be classy and just sing.
Amanda Overmyer – Worst performance of the night. The look -- horrible. My immediate thought: (Yamma Hamma -- it's fright night!) The song choice -- wrong. She sings bluesy rock and should not have picked a song featuring the high tenor of Kansas' Steve Walsh. Amanda was terrible last night. She's gone.
Alaina Whitaker – Oversang a simple ballad. Stick with the melody and sing every note. She added way too much vibrato. I've seen Grease a million times and her redition was not good enough. Again, she's too young.
Alexandrea Lushington – I liked her breezy take on that Chicago number. Poor song choice, though. I want to hear her voice. Coffee-shop performance.
Kady Malloy – Gorgeous girl with talent. Unfortuneately, she's boring performing as herself, even she even knows who that is (because I don't). Her days are numbered.
Asia’h Epperson – I like her personality and her voice. Sick or not, this was not her best performance.
They guys were better overall.
I remember the immortal words of Socrates who said "I drank what?"
