Re: HTF Review: Underdog

Justin - you are right on every point the movie is a mess and was destined to be a mess from the start. Amazingly you think the producers and Disney would have learned from messes like Rocky and Bullwinkle in live action. I actually submitted to the rights holders two treatments for a film and natural sequel and Classic Media loved it and Bob Higgins' Assistant rushed it to him, Spyglass turned it down because although I had a published book on the market at the time that also happened to feature the Macy's Underdog balloon! I grew up on the old show and felt it could have been a great little film. Now not to make you all think I am just showing ego and boasting lets go one step further. Joe Harris the great artist you actually designed the character and was one of the 4 original creators of the character and show actually submitted a script and was turned down flat. Now here is a man who created the show which was very successful for 10 years in syndication and Network. Who knows what will work for the character and what the fans would have loved to see and they did not immediately bring him on board! That was the first indication of the mess that resulted. Maybe the producers will take a Underdog Super energy sign up Joe Harris make the film that should have been made!!!!!!!
