I am by no means an expert on the Migration Assistant, but we recently used it on a Pro-Tools workstation at work. Unfortunately it was not seamless and we are having some problems getting all of the authorizations in line and the program working again. So it seems that it may not be the best solution for you. Then again I always run into these kind of problems working with Avid products so it may be more about their peculiarities than Migration Assistant.

Edited to add: So I am a little late to the conversation and clearly Migration Assistant is not the way to go.
