My surprises are as follows:

1. No nomiations for Zodiac: I thought Fincher would pull out a best director at the very least. Hopefully, there were at least a few nods in the technical categories.

2. No nominations for Waitress: I think that this film was the Juno of the first half of the year. How quickly we forget.

3. No songs from Hairspray: This would not seem so bad if Enchanted did not receive three. WTF? There were several good musicals this year, let's spread the love.

4. Only one song from Once: This would not seem so bad if Enchanted did not receive three. WTF? There were several good musicals this year, let's spread the love.

5. No Score Nomination for There Will Be Blood: Even my girlfriend leaned over and mentioned that she loved the score and she rarely breaks a film down in to it's components and mentions them. I realize that this score was a bit jarring to some, but great art usually is.

6. No Documentary nod for King of Kong: The buzz around this doc. was huge for a documentary and easily the most talked about documentary besides Sicko this year.
