Some new plot spoilers have apparently been leaked:

Casting-wise, Chris Hemsworth as apparently been cast as George Samuel Kirk, Sr., Jim's father.

Oh, and Jennifer Morrison? She's rumored to be playing Carol Marcus, the mother of Kirk's son from Wrath of Khan.

Old Spock becomes aware of this, and pursues, to warn his younger self to protect Kirk from Nero. There's apparently a poignant scene where Old Spock describes his friendship with Kirk to his younger self (who has not yet met Jim).
