Jason, I understand your point, you are right that the character of Captain Kirk is a piece of fictional work where many writers have given him the lines to say and the actions to take. But in all these variations, there was always William Shatner there to breath life into the character. He had completed the character by becoming him on film.
It will be admittedly hard to see another person do the role. As long as the basic soul of the character is there and the actor is true to him, then I can accept that.
Yes Lou, you have the right attitude. After seeing so many new actors take over the role of James Bond, it's actually a time when we will see all new actors playing the roles of TOS. Hard to believe it will happen! And I don't mean to sound subborn and unwilling to accept change. I don't know Chris Pine either. If he's good in the role and does his job right, then great!
I will be there with an open mind on opening day.
