Lou, I am not entirely convinced yet that Chris Pine can be the new Kirk. Of course the creative team probably see what they feel is right in him for the role if he's on the list.

Kind of an odd thing these days we are seeing more examples of existing properties where an established character is re-cast as their younger selves. Ewan MacGregor as Obi Wan, Daniel Craig as Bond and now someone will take the Kirk role.

What gets me is that these new films all tend to show them as young and not quite formed yet and they make mistakes and act out of character. For some people, maybe that's okay. But to me it is tedious to have to watch that when we know what the real character is all about.

Hopefull this new Kirk will be Kirk from the start of this film.
