I think I finally figured out my problem. I had clicked the RSS symbol in the address bar of Firefox which links to the overall RSS feed instead of to the subject area I was browsing. When using the RSS subscription link from the Forum Tools drop down everything works just as it should.

Thanks for the help and I appreciate the addition of the link to the main forum listing page.
