Plus Abrams has stated it featured an early twenties Kirk.

In Nimoy's interview over at TrekMovie the inference is there that part of Spock's time in the movie is post-Generations so Kirk's death is acknowledged.

If time travel is a component of this film, I prefer the Guardian to the Nexus as the means to accomplish it.
