Well, to be fair, we don't know anything about this film besides (1) Abrams directing, (2) Kurtzman & Orci writing, (3) Quinto & Nimoy as Spock. There's nothing really to "get" yet.
Still, I'd be shocked if Paramount and company aren't looking at
Batman Begins and
Casino Royale as their models: Go back to the beginning, tell a story that establishes the characters, emphasize the things that people love about the franchise, jettison the things that make for easy parody.
