Re: 5.1 speaker overhaul PLEASE reply!!

not sure about the demo. they are very good about discussing your options with you and making suggestions for your room and system and bass needs.

here are the obvious questions: how big is your room? how would you rank these bass qualities based on personal priority - spl/ how loud it goes, extension/ how low it goes, and tightness/ clarity?

now i can tell you a few advantages/ disadvantages to each of the options you've listed.

the pb10 is a great entry level sub for many situations up to med sized rooms. the biggest consideration i'd give this sub is it's connectivity issues. it only has 1 line level input and no outs. while you can run two in a room, it is going to take some extra equipment and more complicated configuration to get them up and running properly.

the sb12 is the one i'd buy if i needed to replace my sub tomorrow. the plus is that it's small and the sealed design generally makes for very clean, musical bass. i know i prefer sealed subs. not everyone does. the downside of the sealed sub is that it trades that clarity and size for overall oomph and probably some low end extension. given two subs the same price from the same company, one sealed one one not (don't know if any company has been foolish enough to do this) the assumption would be that the sealed has cleaner bass and the ported one goes lower and louder. that said, this one's probably got more than enough oomph for most people for med sized rooms and smaller and should blend very well with any speakers for music (better than most subs anyway).

the pb12/2 is clearly the most powerful of the bunch and will go the lowest as well. it's a monster. there may be bigger monsters, but it doesn't make this any less monstery. if you want to upset the family, roomates, neighbors, etc. this is the one. not that the others can't piss off plenty of people too.

so call them or email them with your set up and room info and they'll hook you up.
