The JBL is a good deal. Another sub to consider is the BIC Acoustech H100. However, you list $400 as the top of your range. Many people out there believe that really good bass begins just above your price range. I usually don't try to talk people up, but in this case I think you should really consider the SVS PB10 as an option.
