OK, the comments about the polarizer make sense, especially WRT wide settings. I'll probably try it anyway, just for grins, but I suspect you are all correct.

But how about standard filters (UV, haze, etc.)? They will only push out the converter about 1mm, maybe even less, and the effect is even across the entire surface of the glass.
