Precisely.
All too often, grim and gritty is seen as "good" and "authentic" and "realistic". We see comics and comic-based movies full of seriousness and psychobabble. So, we end up with the Incredibly Boring and Brooding Hulk, instead of the fun stories of a green monster who smashes things.
Comics are inherently juvenile and inherently fun. To shoehorn into a youth-oriented genre excessive violence, profanity, sex, and adult themes is illogical, incongruent, and selfish.
