Yeah, I've prefered all the Asian originals to their American counterparts (The Ring and Ringu are close, however). And the soundtracks to most of the originals are indeed awesome. There's just something atmospheric and creepy because they're usually so miminalist, which may not be the best term to use, but it's all I can think of right now.
