Michael, I'm not sure what I'd buy, but my strategy would be to find the speakers first and work back toward the electronics.

At that price point you can probably be looking at separates for amp power too. Understanding your speaker efficiency and power requirements can lead you to understanding your audio amplifier requirements. Those components aren't going to change rapidly so they can be considered long term investments.

On the other hand, changes in audio/video formats are happening more frequently and perhaps spending high end dollars on very expensive front end decoders and processors isn't a long a term investment and therefore look to spend a bit less there.

Just my opinion. I'd be listening to lot's of real nice speakers if I were sitting on that budget.

PS Got a equivalent video strategy going on?
