In my opinion, Clair is one of the greatest French film-makers although he seems not to be held in such high esteem anymore, which is a pity. His post-war work shows a decline, but it is still well worth watching and recognizably Clair's - as are the films he made outside France, despite their erratic quality (but it has to be said that practically none of the great European directors who went Hollywood during WWII fared too well).
I would love to watch all his other films, of course, but these in particular: The Imaginary Voyage (1926), An Italian Straw Hat (1927), July 14 (1933), The Last Millionaire (1934), Forever And A Day (1943) and Tout L'Or Du Monde (1961).
