Bob,
In my opinion, Sirius is totally
unlistenable when it comes to music.
More than ever they are putting their
channels on a seeming "loop" that plays
the same songs over and over again. This
problem extends beyond the decades channels
into such channels as The Groove,
Broadway's Best and even Raw Dog
that plays the same comedy material.
I am knee-deep into satellite radio. I read
many of the boards and usenet groups daily.
Here is a post I discovered this morning....
Quote:
Well after about 10 days I cancelled my subscription to Sirius. As much as I wanted to love it, I just got bored with it. I mainly listened to Octane, Alt Nation and Faction and I would hear the same songs 4-5 times a day and then each day it was the same set again. I wouldn't have minded hearing the same bands but just different cuts off their albums.

Now mind you, there are many individuals that
love the repetition on Sirius. To be fair,
people do post positive comments about Sirius'
shallow playlists. They enjoy the fact that
whenever they get in their car they hear a
familiar song. If that's your forte then
Sirius is absolutely for you.
On the other hand, there is no doubt that
when you turn on XM radio, as you just mentioned,
you get the feeling that there is a lot of
creativity going into its music programming.
When XM went on the air their philosophy was to
break away from the FM mold. They instructed
their on-air talent to be "different" and to
bring a unique approach to their music programming.
That philosophy is still in place today and
works best for those of us that keep our radios
turned on all day.
