Well, it's newer for one thing which means it probably has a better video DAC.
There are differences between the looks of the two, to be sure. With most film based material where the RP-91's weakness doesn't come into play "better" will depend on subjective preference and the display device. The Panasonics tend to be "sharper" looking while the Denons tend to be softer and more film-like, IMO.
That you think it looks better is all that matters in your system.
