I’ve considering an offer to trade-up from my H/K AVR-525 to a new 7200. My system is used almost exclusively for music playback (80/20). Media or input used is SACD/DVD-A, concert DVD’s and of course redbook CD’s. In the past I’ve read on this forum that you really need roughly twice the power to be able to tell a real difference. But, a chance to move from 70 to 100 watts per channel for a few hundred dollars is tempting. I’ve been happy with my 525, it’s just at moderate-high listening levels it seems to straining slightly. Possible the large room I’m asking it to fill (14’ ceiling) may have something to do with it (23’Lx18”Wx14’H). Or, maybe “Upgrade-itis” is getting the best of me. With my setup and room size do you think I would be able to tell an audible difference? Would it be worth the dough?
