My 45a behaves like the 47ai, in that I leave it MC unless I have a disc with both and want to listen to the 2CH tracks. It keeps the last setting without issue.
I would agree that it is a bit of a PITA to have to reset it every time it switches back. Not to be a pessimist, but I don't hold out much hope that am upgrade of the firmware is on the horizon, but it will not hurt to let your feelings known to Marantz.
