1. Red and white audio cables, that go from the audio out jacks on the TV to the appropriate audio in jacks on the receiver.

2. As long as there is a component input on the TV, that's the way to go - directly from the DVD to the TV. For the audio from the DVD player, typically a digital cable from the DVDp to the AV rec. is the norm. Optical or coaxial, whatever is most convienient.
