The Grey Zone - I found to be an excellent illustration of the horriffic things humans are capable of doing in order to survive and how difficult a struggle it would be to hold on to one's humanity when faced with such a situation. Tim Blake Nelson's images and use of sound create several unsettling and painful moments and I was enveloped in this story in a way that never occured with the much more successful The Pianist. There was one speech that I thought was unnecessary, and a trite VO narration that somewhat mars the ending but Nelson has a sure hand most of the way. I thought Steve Buscemi and Natasha Lyonne (wish we'd seen more of her) were the highlights of the cast.
Wish it had been longer, there were several times I wanted to see what other characters were doing, more about planning the uprising, etc. Also wish the DVD had some descriptive extras. B+
