I unplugged all of the wires from the receiver, unplugged it (overnight) and then plugged it into a different outlet this moring. I'm still getting the Protect message.   I assume the receiver is shot. It's over 15...

Thanks John. I'll try unpugging it.   I'll check the speaker connections again too.   If neither work, is there anything else it can be ?

I went to turn on my receiver to watch a dvd and Protect is flashing. No sound will not come on.   I looked in the manual and it says that it means that there is a short somewhere.   I disconnect each speaker one...
