I'm really looking forward to the Betty Boop set (s) still, and whatever Olive can do animation-wise. If a given classic animated cartoon isn't owned by Disney, Warner, Sony or Universal, chances are its in Republic's package.
You guys should really spin this off into another thread, since this is at best only tangentially related to Olive Films or their dealings with Paramount and/or Republic.
That would all be similar to how NTA remembered to renew Tears of an Onion, but no other Color Classic.
NTA's renewals of Paramount cartoons (and United Artist's renewal of their Warner Bros. cartoons) were sloppy.
So, does this mean the gaggle of 1937-1938 cartoons that aren't on the Echo Bridge set (Service With a Smile to Thrills and Chills on Wade's list) are protected by copyright?
It was inferred on the now-defunct GAC that the pre-1935...
I'm almost certain some of those pre-code cartoons in Wade's PD list are also copyrighted.
