I will suggest connect directly to your TV's 1080i component input. Some receivers do not have enough bandwidth to handle HD signal via component.
Quote: But switching to 480p mode on the Zenith requires getting up and hitting a switch on the front panel since there is no remote control key function for that correct? Thats inconvient. ... So can you use...
Quote: The Zenith will handle non-anamorphic widescreen properly for sets that lock into full at 1080i, has an infinitely variable vertical-only zoom. Results on films like Titanic are excellent, really could be mistaken for...
Neil, I didn't see your report/comparison on this player yet or have you posted it already? Jay, I have both the LiteOn 2001 and 318. The 318 is way better than the 2001 in terms of sharpness, detail, color and build quality....

Get out of here Don, take your XP30 somewhere else, you are seriously off-topic. This thread is about the HD-DVD players, your top-rated XP30 has nothing to do with HD. And stop spreading rumors about combing on the Zenith, DavePTG...

Quote: I trust Dave's review, the zenith apparently combs on badly flagged sections and handles video-based material poorly - thats a killer for me. My XP30 handles all that stuff perfectly! That again proves...
Just checked the scenes you mentioned in the Monster's Inc. in 480p, I did not notice the combing, chroma bug or anything, the frame, the bedsheet, the tshirt, the drawing on the wall, they all look very smooth but certainly not as good...
