I went through the same thing when I got mine--I ripped all of my cds at 256 vbr and ended up going with the Sennheiser cx300 and have been very happy with them. I probably could have gone up to $100 and still felt comfortable at that...
Which rockets are you looking at? I got the 550s a couple of years ago and bought the stands mostly to raise the tweeter to a higher level, but also to stabalize them better. I'm really happy with them--I'm surprised you think they'll...
So it'll upconvert, but not downconvert--gotcha. I guess if I want better picture (until I pony up for a new hdtv), I'll need to get the s-video xbox connector. I picked up a toslink cable today to see if I can get better sound. ...
My wife just surprised me w/ a 360 (late xmas present!) so I'm trying to get it hooked up into my HT. The problem is that my older Proscan tv only has an S-video input. When I put the component cables into either of the component-in...
I'm still getting used to the great sound of my new 3803 (and great price-thanks 6ave!), but am having problems when watching TV. When running either DPL 2 or Neo, sound is only coming out of the center speaker so I'm forced to watch in...
That's a pretty sweet case--how much did it cost you?
Tom's Hardware Here's a performance link for card comparisons. The 5200 isn't on there, but I seem to remember reading that performancewise, it's similar to the G4 440 MX.
Sorry--I didn't see that in your first post that you were stuck w/ a PCI. Take a look at the ATI 8500. I believe it'll perform a little better than the 5200, but is a little older.
If that's your max price range, I'd say go for a 4200Ti--It'll definitely perform better than the others listed and can be had for as low as $100
I don't think the 9200 would be a big enough improvement over what you've got to make it worth it. Go for the 4200 if you're strapped or jump to the 9500 pro or 9600 pro if not. 9700 non-pro would be a really nice jump if you can swing it
