it's also true for the 1.33 frame. the top and the bottom have also empty...
it was shot like a movie, with 1.85 soft matte. both for a 1.33 composition and a 1.85 composition.
I prefer the 1.85 aspect ratio but both are legimate since it was broadcasted in 1.33 in the first place.

the 4X3 picture is from the region 2 dvd, the 16X9 picture is from the region 1.
Netwokd has nothing to do with the HD transfer, it's Granada who owns the series, who has decided not to remaster season 2
