A more convincing case (for male viewers, at least) for the benefits of open matte could be made by citing as an example Jackie Brown, or should I say Bridget Fonda.

Back when I got the Book of the Dead Edition of the first film, I left it on the balcony for a day. That got rid of (most of) the smell nicely.
