Where are you located in Canada? Stores in Toronto have copies. I've seen them at multiple stores throughout the city, including Future Shop (Empress Walk) and Best Buy (Dundas and Bay).
The difference will really depend on your display.
I previously had a Toshiba 46HX83. The difference was noticeable, but not huge.
I recently upgraded to a Sony 50" SXRD and the difference is night and day.
