I got my copy of NBNW a couple of days ago and it is a must buy on Blu-ray. The extra features alone are worth buying it. The film has never looked better. It makes miss my front projection system I had years ago as I know it would look fantastic on a large screen.

I am patiently waiting for the Blu-ray version of Rear Window which is my own personal favorite from Hitchcock.

I love Rear Window chief, fantastic film. One of the few films I've seen twice in one evening. I watched it for the first time on video in the mid-80's with a friend of mine who is also a huge Hitchcock fan. As soon as it finished we just had to watch it again.

I liked the X-ray machine in Total Recall.

Rear Window for me is Hitchcock's masterpiece. I too have watched it more than once in a day.

Total Recall was a lot of fun to watch. I still want the television wall he had in his apartment. Just remember you have to "Get Your Ass to Mars!"

Love this longer version. I can hardly wait to see it in the theaters.

That will look good on blu-ray eh? Should be seen on the big screen first though. My imagination or does it look like Jeff Bridges is a baddie this time? Maybe his gaming alter ego caught a 'virus'?

When's this film coming out on Blu?

True Lies (1994)

True Lies - I haven't heard anything yet. I know I will order it as soon as it becomes available.

We didn't even get True Lies in anamorphic dvd, it'll be like a brand new film when it's finally released on Blu-ray. And some of the violence was cut in the UK edition.

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot,
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Wille stoppen Sie Dave.....

I could understand when Cameron pulled True Lies after 911 put I don't understand why the delay after so many years with it being shown many times since over cable TV and satellite.

My laserdisc of True Lies is still one of my favorites. I just hope that when it finally shows up on Blu-ray that it is the extended release with all the additional footage left out of the standard release.

Hopefully we'll get True Lies some time next year, along with Cameron's other neglected film The Abyss.

Here's one of my favourite Bond gadgets -

Yes, we all could use glasses that pick up on concealed weapons and the kind of knickers all the hot babes are wearing. And then again you might just see something that you wish you never had.

I too would love to see an extended version of The Abusebys on Blu-ray. The extended version is what they should have shown in the theaters in the first place. It makes the movie that much better.

Yep and a lot longer too, my mantra is 'more is more', so that's my preferred cut too.

Though with Aliens I tend to watch the theatrical version more, it's better paced.

Jim Cameron's remake of Dances with Wolves is coming up fast.

No this is the remake of the extended cut of the special edition.

The previews have been generally good, here are some snippets from people who witnessed Dances with Blue Aliens -

"Long film", "Jim it almost made me forgive you for Titanic", "an abomination in the eyes of God", "I looked at my watch 8 times, it just wouldn't end", "my eyes still hurt from CG overload", "4 thumbs up!", "Has Costner sued yet?", "We waited 12 years for this?", "It's better than GI Joe!"

I saw The Box this afternoon.  Oh my.  This film totally went in a direction I did not expect.  I can't remember the last time the trailers for a film so misrepresented it.  That's not to say it wasn't a wacky surprise, but oh my goodness.  I didn't care for "Donnie Darko" (though I intend to give it another chance one day), have not yet seen "Southland Tales", but Richard Kelly has guts coming out with a film like this.  I need to watch the "Twilight Zone" episode to see where Kelly presumably veered off in his own direction.

My favorite comment about the film was from a poster on another forum who said a guy at his showing stood up at the end and yelled "What the hell was that?!?!?!"

I did the same thing at the end of City of Angles.

Dances with the Blue Meanies is actually the CGI version of the special edition directors cut of the extended version of Dancing With The Stars Wolves on ABC.

I've been waiting years for the return of Jimbo "King O The Wolrd" Cameron, now I can't even muster enough energy to go watch the trailer.

Don't even know if I'll go see it or wait for the Blu-ray.  Maybe it's the prospect of wearing those stupid 3D glasses.

I must be getting old............

I think someone mentioned the film is dimmed 20% when seen thru those 3D polarized glasses. I'd rather watch my films undimmed.

Hey that's exactly what Sandra yelled last night in bed.

I'm curious to see The Box. Not at the cinema though. I only go to the cinema if something spectacular and eyefilling is on show, like for instance robots on the rampage, the world being destroyed, Megan Fox running in slow motion, the Enterprise zooming across space, that sort of thing...

The preview of Goats gives off a zany Coen Brothers vibe.  Both me and my wife really want to see it.

I watched Crank 2 last night..........I think it gave me an aneurysm

Haha Crank 2 was insane, so much fast cutting and zooming in I wasn't sure what I was watching, thank Christ it wasn't in 3-D!

They keep showing clips from Goats on tv, looks weird. I've had my fill of weird this year.

Did I mention I finally saw Moon? No? I finally saw Moon.

I also saw Surrogates, the Bruce Willis sci-fi thingy. The whole things absurd but who knows what might happen in the future. People all over the world plug themselves into a machine which activates a robot of their choice that looks like a real person, or better looking versions of themselves. And that surrogate robot does all the walking, shopping, working, dancing, fucking etc while the controller is hooked up at home experiencing all the sensations. It's like virtual reality except it's happening in the real world. A surrogate is murdered and the person controlling it is found dead too. Bruce Willis, well his younger looking surrogate, is on the case,,,

I enjoyed both Moon and Surrogates. For some reason Moon reminded me of Silent Running. Sam Rockwell in the Bruce Dern part, working alone in space, robots or in this case a supercomputer named GERTY as Rockwell's companion. GERTY is voiced by Kevin Spacey. There is a twist in this tale as Rockwell makes a shocking discovery...[bites fist]

I found that Sam Rockwell did a fantastic job pulling off a what is essentially a one person show. Kevin Spacey's voice was used and there was some video work by a few other actors but it was about 95% done by one actor. That is very difficult to pull off and still hold you interest.

I just got my Blu copies of Heat, Up, and Monsters Inc. and all are fantastic. Heat never looked or sounded so good outside of the theater and really made me miss my front projection system. They all are demo discs for your Blu-ray set up to show off to your friends.

I want to see The Men Who Stare At Goats but will probably wait until the disc comes out.

Isnt it a stinker that the Blu of Its a Wonderful Life isnt what it should be? Saves me a bit of money this season. I am going to add Moon to my NetFlix.
Watched a movie called Splinter. Its not bad, for what it was. These "splinter" alien growths kill you and grow bigger sucking out your body fluids, while looking for more people to suck the life from. It was made here in Oklahoma too. Never heard of this flick til i rented it. Worth a rental, if you guys are into that kind of movie, and i know you are.

I want to see Moon and Surrogates, rentals probably........it's been about a year since we've been to the theaters, my longest dry spell ever.  I used to go at least twice a week when I was younger.

I also received the BD's of Heat, Up, Monsters and also Near Dark yesterday.  Didn't get a chance to watch any yet...maybe this weekend.

I wasn't planning on getting the BD of Wonderful Life.  It's a great film but I've seen it too many times over the years.

What's wrong with it?  Is it waxed? Haloed? Crayola'ed?

Russ, alien growths sucking out bodily fluids! Russ? Wasn't Splinter the name of one of the Ninja Turtles? Sort of sounds familiar.

Thanks Rick, Elizabeth gave me that same link a page or 2 ago. It's useful and it says 300 is region-free, I haven't dared put it thru my player yet, I'll save it for saturday. I also bought the Matrix trilogy, the Animatrix, Highlander (there can be only one!) and How the West Was Won.

I have these 4 enroute to me, too.  The only movie I haven't seen before is "Up".  Strange how I had no interest whatsoever to see it at the theater, but they had really good deals for the Blu-Ray.
