A somewhat promising lowkey beginning basically stalls in the midsection,

and never really does recover for any feeling of satisfaction for this

viewer. It was equally frustrating and boring, never a good combination.

Imagine a game of whack-a-mole where in the place of the mole heads, you had the heads of the various characters in this movie, and I'd have no problem whacking any of the heads that popped up.
I give it 1.75 stars, or a grade of C-.

Awful, awful film. I agree with Patrick on all levels.

I was sold by the film's premise and its star Michael
Cera, who is great in everything I have seen him in.

However, this film suffers from a bad script and bad
pacing. Not one funny moment in the film. You can
sort of tell that the studio knew it had a bomb on its
hands and waited until January to release it.

Save your money, wait until you can rent this on DVD
or Blu-ray -- and even then, it will be money badly spent.

I enjoyed it for what it was. You need to have a certain tolerance for film snobbery and overbearing pretension, but if you can set that aside there are quite a few laughs that evolve from the off-kilter personalities and situations. Practically every moment with the characters played by Fred Willard and Justin Long had me laughing hysterically.
