The Creature Lives Again!

This year I carved four pumpkins inspired by the Creature from the Black Lagoon.  While it's not the first time I've done the Creature, I tried 2 new carves and tried to improve the others.

Here is the Claw!


I call this one Heavy Breather


Meet One Arm


And on a giant pumpkin, the movie poster.  This has more detail than my previous effort.  There are air bubbles, the background divers have more detail, the faces are rendered better in this one.

Those are awesome.  I'm lucky if I can make a traditional pumpkin with triangle eyes and nose.  Even though I couldn't come close to any of these, I ought to try the "scraping" method or whatever you call it because it gives a nice, warm glow even in photos.

I call it shaving off the skin and I use  X-acto wood  carving tools.

That's crazy, I couldn't even draw that with a pencil, let alone into a pumpkin.
