 Folks,

I'm an old fart newbie that has been researching 2 channel receivers with CD/DVD capability plus input for an Ipod. Thought I had it down to a TEAC CRH 227i or Yamaha CRX-330BL (both come with Ipod dock or built in) until I found a Sony STR DH100, a DVD player. Will play it in my informal living room, with soft pop music and thinking of two bookshelf speakers, i.e. Energy C-200. 

Some help needed as follows:
1) I believe I can play CDs in a DVD player, correct?? I only want to play CDs.
2) If so, do you recommend any other than the Sony STR DH100 that I list?
3) Can you give me some input on the benefits of the DVD player vs. the other two that only play CDs
4) Any other recommendations??... I want to keep the entire package under $500
