Has Anyone Been Using the "All New Posts" page activity stream beta?

Hey all,
I'm wondering if anyone has chosen to use the activity stream in place of the all new posts page? If you want to try it out, go to the all new posts page and click the beta link.

Hmmm...  Isn't that just the same as the Recent Activity section on the Home page (but w/ "subscriptions only" turned off by default)?

I'm actually trying that out on the Home page just now (as I had mentioned considering doing on occasion in the other thread).

Would be nice though if I can further config it to filter out certain forum sections.

I see what you're trying to get the feed to do... interesting concept of allowing some potentially not directly subscribed content into the feed but always blocking some out...

Not exactly sure how that would work... so you'd leave subscriptions off, but then ban other forums from your feed? Seems like it might be a bit hard to communicate that... but maybe there's like a white list / black list concept in there somewhere...

Interesting ideas!

Actual functionality would be similar to how I can shrink/expand the different major sections on the top Forums listing page (so they don't clutter that page nor force more scrolling as much), except I wouldn't even see the titles for the excluded sections anymore in this case.  Would be good to have finer control of that than how the top Forums listing page does it though.

Maybe you can just popup something that looks similar to the "More Forums" nav menu for this and let users optionally turn on/off the various sections and/or subforums.  Perhaps, you can put the popup link for the config menu under the preference Settings section where there's only the Summary view option right now.

Benjamin:  To answer the question in your title, "no"--for the reasons I described in the other thread.

Along the same vein as Man's response, Parker used to have it set up in the old v-bulletin software (on our profile page) where we could cherry-pick which sub-forums we were interested-in so that only those forums would be displayed on our main index page.  This allowed us to customize our main index page (this is different from our home page--which used to include subscribed threads and favorite threads) to only feature those sub-forums which interested us.

We, of course, were not precluded from visiting those other forums and could still reach them easily via the drop-down menu--where all sub-forums were still visible.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!
