Forgive me if this question is already answered somewhere in the overwhelming amount of information found here, but I am trying to figure out what my options are for a hard disk drive recording capability to use with my home theater/audio system set up. I think in simple terms of the cassette recorder I had in my younger days where I would record hours of music from the radio or from albums and could dub them to another cassette editing out what I chose.
Fast forward to my HD satelite feed, Blu-Ray player and Satellite radio sources feeding into my Onkyo HTS receiver - is there some product out there that I can output to that will allow me to record any/all of them for my own personal use? For example, I'd love to keep the 15 minute Bruce Springsteen Super Bowl halftime show, that is on my DirecTV DVR in HD, and ditch the 4 1/2 hours of a football game that I turned out to not care a hoot about. Perhaps there is also a commercial or two in there worth keeping as well :-) I also like the thought of it being able to act as a hard drive repository for all of my CD collection.
Thanks for any guidance. - h
