I have a Marantz RC5400SR remote used with a Marantz SR5200 and am using a Samsung 50''LCD, also with a DVR.

The receiver and remote are a bit old - some 5 years or so - but the TV and DVR are new.

For the life of me I can't get the television to display the speaker setup menu to make adjustments. I can however, use the remote for television setup menus.

So it's like the television recognizes the remote - but will not recognize for amplifier setup.

I'm not technically challenged, but HT is not my forte as it were.

Any ideas? Should I purchase a more modern all-in-one digital, programmable remote a la Harmony 520, or one of its type?
